2011 Manitou Music Festival Poster Competition

The Glen Arbor Art Association is inviting artists to submit original art entries for the annual Manitou Music Festival poster.  The limited edition posters are hugely popular and sold through the art association and selected shops & art galleries in Leelanau County.  The competition is open to anyone who is a member of the Glen Arbor Art Association.  Artwork must be two-dimensional, original and not previously published.  Deadline for entry is October 1, 2010.  For more information, please visit www.glenarborart.org.

The C.S. Lewis Festival

The Eighth Annual C.S. Lewis Festival Board of Directors invites all artists (U.S. residents, age 18 or older) to submit original works of art for the 4th Annual Juried Fine Arts Exhibition.  The theme for the 2010 Festival is Lewis and Tolkien: The story behind the phenomenon; works should be based on Tolkien's book, The Hobbit.

Applications are due by September 8, 2010, and should be submitted via the Lewis Festival website at www.cslewisfestival.org.  All media are welcome.  Thee exhibit will be featured at Crooked Tree Arts Center in Petoskey, and will be juried by Doug Melvin, former art instructor at North Central Michigan College.

2011 Charlatan Ink Art Prize

Charlatan Ink, LLC, New York has launched the international juried 2011 Charlatan Ink Art Prize for the visual arts, which will be held biennially in New York from 2011 onwards, and will travel every other year around the globe.

The Prize is open to all visual artists and visual art practices.

The theme for the Inaugural Prize is:
     Where do we come from?  What are we?  Where are we going?

The Prize's jury will be comprised of Anthony Lister (AUS), Peter Gric (CZ/AU), Bing Dawe (NZ), Marlene Antico [patron of the Paddington Art Prize in Sydney] (AUS), Winston Smith (USA), JoAnne Berkow (USA), and Ed McCormack (USA).

The first prize will be $25,000.
